v1.3.0 - October 4, 2026
Connected Spaces, Automatic Backups, and Zen Import
Release Notes
SupaSidebar 1.3.0 makes Spaces easier to set up and connect to your browsers. Create and edit Spaces right in the sidebar, choose a browser or profile for each one, and bring across the bookmarks you need. Automatic backups, a dedicated Zen import, and improvements to everyday sidebar behavior round out the update.
What's New
- A Simpler Way to Connect Spaces: Use the link icon beside a Space's name to choose a supported browser or profile. Live Tabs show tabs from that connection, and it becomes the Space's default browser destination. Your explicit Open With choices, per-link browser preferences, and higher-priority Air Traffic Control rules still take precedence.
- Create and Edit Spaces in the Sidebar: Set a Space's name, icon, color, and browser connection in one form. Edit an existing Space in the same place, with the full adaptive color palette available.
- Bring Your Bookmarks Along: Choose Fetch bookmarks when connecting a Space, review the selection, and import what you want. For an existing connection, use Check for new bookmarks to import more when you need them.
- Import Zen Spaces: Choose which Zen Spaces to bring into SupaSidebar, keeping their folder structure and pinned tabs as saved links. Shared Essentials and browser bookmarks can be imported into their own Spaces. Ordinary open tabs are excluded, and imports add new Spaces without replacing your existing ones.
- Automatic Backups: Save scheduled
.ssbcopies of your saved content, choose a backup folder and frequency, or use Back Up Now. Weekly backups are enabled when no previous backup preference exists; existing choices, including Off, are preserved. Backups cover saved content, not browser history, Live Tabs, or app settings. - Check & Repair: Find unassigned folders and reconnect them to a Space from Preferences > Backups. A recovery copy is saved before applying changes.
Improvements
- Easier Folder Reordering: Drop near the top or bottom of a folder row to place a folder before or after it, or in the center to move it inside. The drop area after the last folder is three times taller, making it easier to place folders at the end. Insertion indicators stay in place without shifting the rows.
- Your Own Default Browser: Choose a default browser for SupaSidebar without changing your Mac's default browser.
- Clearer Space Connections: See the browser's logo beside the connection label. Space preferences are organized into My spaces and Switching spaces, with automatic browser launching and automatic Space switching off until you choose to enable them when no saved preference exists.
- Cleaner Command Panel Results: Source-browser logos sit beside aligned status labels. Window and tab numbers have been removed from the metadata, while visit times and footer shortcuts remain available.
- Control Space Rules in the Command Panel: The new Use current Space rules setting is on by default. Turn it off to apply only browser rules for all Spaces when opening links from the Command Panel. Explicit browser choices still take precedence.
- Easier Settings Search: Improved matching in Preferences and the Command Panel, with results that take you to the relevant controls. Repeated navigation to the same setting now scrolls it into view correctly.
- More Helpful Permission Checks: Clearer browser-access and mouse-control status, with guidance for resolving missing access.
- More Consistent Interface: Refined shared controls across the sidebar, Command Panel, and Preferences, plus expanded French translations.
Bug Fixes
- The sidebar shortcut hides an uncovered sidebar even when another app has keyboard focus, and brings a covered sidebar forward.
- Prevent Overlap waits for sidebar movement to settle, rechecks the target window before adjusting it, and preserves the browser's vertical position and height.
- Improved sidebar attachment while a browser is starting up.
- The sidebar can be narrowed again after being widened.
- Browser links dragged into the sidebar retain supplied page titles.
- Live Tabs use consistent window groups in linked Spaces.
- Air Traffic Control rules that match all URLs retain their explicit Space scope.
- Backup and recovery fixes preserve more saved-content details, including folder order, tags, empty notes, and Smart Folder references, and address incomplete exports in larger libraries.
